T&L Founder Lucy Ashman shares her inspirations and story

Ever since Lucy Ashman was a kid, she’s been experimenting with nature to create her own products. Now, she is a botanical alchemist combining all of her passions to create “potions” that help nourish the body inside and out.

“Something we’re really proud of here at Tierra & Lava is that we have our own organic garden, and that actually supplies about 80% of our botanicals that we need to use for our products,” Lucy Ashman shares. “The remainder of the ingredients and all the other botanicals we get are sourced from our ethical suppliers and local providers. All of the ingredients are fair trade certified.”

“We currently work with 65 different small families, farmers here in Guatemala in 25 different communities. Ultimately, it’s about the stories of the people. Their very human stories are what fascinate me and get me interested. It’s about finding a way to get that to generate some sort of economic impact or exposure for them to grow the same as we’re growing,” says Lucy on her motivation to create natural beauty products from Guatemala.
