Healthy Skin

Your skin is your largest organ and when things are not right or balanced inside your body, this shows up on your skin, so you need to look after it from the inside out.

This is particularly true of sensitive skin, which in many cases is a result of the cumulative effects of what you put on your skin and what you eat (or don’t eat).

Whatever we put on the outside of our skin can be absorbed into the bloodstream so it’s just as essential to be conscious of what goes on your skin too and always use skincare products natural enough that if you were to eat them, they’re not going to do you any harm.

Top 3 Tips for Healthy Skin

1. Protect against the environment. Wear SPF sunscreen.

The harsh elements of the sun can quickly and easily damage our skin cells, including causing skin cancer. It’s best to cover up and protect your skin from the environmental elements. Use a natural zinc based sunscreen that doesn’t contain harsh and unnecessary chemicals.

If you already have suffered some sun damage and have some ‘sun spots’ or blemishes you would like to reduce or treat, seek out products that contain cacao such as our Coffee Cacao Spice Scrub. Dark cocoa (cacao in Spanish) powder contains properties which are known to repair sun damage. Yay.

2. Look after your skin on a daily basis.

Cleanse, moisturize and exfoliate daily and remember to K.I.S.S — Keep It Super Simple in regards to what you’re using on your skin and choose natural products that contain the least amount of ingredients or a combination of all natural ingredients.

Products which contain ingredients such as Macadamia oil, Papaya, Avocado, and Oats help maintain skin integrity and health by locking in moisture.

3. Eat well and drink plenty of water.

Focus on eating whole unprocessed foods and carry a water bottle with you at all times! We need to drink at least 6-8 cups of water a day just for normal ‘survival’. If it’s hot, humid or you’re exercising, you will need more than this.

Remember that our skin health reflects our internal health as well, so keeping your body hydrated with plenty of water will also help to keep your skin hydrated.

Keeping it Super Simple

In summary, a combination of water, a chemical free skin care regime and a good SPF sunscreen & moisturizer will help give you healthy skin and youthful skin.
