Name: Mayca Carrillo, 22 years old
Could you tell us a little about yourself?
I’m originally from Huehuetenango, but currently I’m living in Antigua with some of my brothers.I love to play soccer, to go for a run and also to go for hikes.
How long have you been working for Tierra & Lava?
I have been in Antigua for almost four years, actually I moved to Antigua on January 2017 and I began to work in Tierra & Lava on February of the same year, so I have been working there almost four years. During this time, I have really enjoyed the workplace, it is very comfortable. Tierra & Lava is in a place surrounded by forests, outside the city where there is a lot of nature and I love that. In fact, there is always a pleasant aroma there!
What are your favorite T&L products?
All the Tierra & Lava’s products are extraordinary and my favorite products are the sunscreen, the bite balm and the Mayan Black Salt Deodorant, I love them.
What have you learned about nature/ the environment or sustainability since working with T&L?
I've always been aware of pollution and the consequences of throwing away or producing too much trash, but to be honest at Tierra & Lava, I really realized that there are ways to change that a bit, a way that we all win. For example, using products with containers that are reusable and classifying garbage. Tierra & Lava not only offers products that meet certain needs, it also offers a way to enjoy using your favorite products without damaging the environment, in this way we all win.
What does conscious care mean to you? What types of things do you do for self-care?
In general, I do not use many products, but the truth is that no matter how many types of products you use, the important thing is to know exactly what you are putting in your skin.

¿Puedes contarnos un poco sobre ti? (hogar, familia, pasatiempos, etc.)
Soy originaria de Huehuetenango pero actualmente estoy viviendo en Antigua con algunos de mis hermanos. Me encanta jugar futbol, salir a correr y también hacer caminatas.
¿Cuánto tiempo llevas trabajando con T&L?
Llevo casi cuatro años en Antigua, de hecho, me mudé a Antigua en enero de 2017 y comencé a trabajar en Tierra & Lava en febrero del mismo año, por lo que llevo trabajando allí por casi cuatro años.
¿Qué es lo que más disfruta de trabajar en Tierra & Lava?
Durante este tiempo, he disfrutado mucho el ambiente de trabajo, es muy cómodo. Tierra & Lava está en un lugar rodeado de bosques, fuera de la ciudad donde hay mucha naturaleza y eso me encanta. De hecho ¡allí siempre hay un aroma fresco y agradable!

¿Qué ha aprendido sobre la naturaleza / el medio ambiente o la sostenibilidad desde que trabajó con T&L?
Que hay formas en la que podemos reducir la contaminación. Por ejemplo, usar productos con envases que son reutilizables, clasificar la basura y así aportar nuestro granito de arena creando un impacto positivo.
¿Qué significa para usted el cuidado consciente?
El saber exactamente el origen, ingredientes y procedimiento de producción de los productos que nos aplicamos en la piel.
¿Qué tipo de cosas haces para tu cuidado personal?
Por lo general no uso muchos productos, pero la verdad es que no importa cuántos tipos de productos usemos, lo importante es saber exactamente qué es lo que estás poniendo en tu piel.
